WP 6A - Micro scale power system for POC (Proof Of Concept) of Edison

19. June 2009

Dong Energy is responsible for this work package

In this work package we will take the best solutions developed by earlier work packages, and test charging patterns, driving patterns control algorithms and communication on a micro scale. To address balancing issues of the power grid, we will test bidirectional energy flow for the micro scale system, i.e. both G2V (grid to vehicle) and V2G (vehicle to grid).

The POC testing and demonstration will be performed at Syslab located at Risø DTU. Systlab will function as a micro power system with power exchange and data communication with the external power grid, and has the following energy elements integrated into the micro system:

  • Wind turbine

  • Solar panel

  • Storage battery

  • EVs simulated by batteries

  • Charging stations, including fast charging, moderate charging and battery swap station.

Based on the test results, we will design a technical platform and provide operational experience for demonstrating a control system for charging EVs in Bornholm, which is the task of WorkPackage_6B.
