FP7 Project G4V Final Conference

13. July 2011  by Anders Holm Foosnæs - Danish Energy Association

The FP7 funded project Grid for Vehicle had its final conference in Brussels 30 June 2011. The findings of the project are very much in line with the work of the EDISON project.

According to its web site "the G4V consortium is adopting a holistic European approach to analyse in detail the impact of a mass introduction in order to optimise the grid infrastructure and make use of the inherent opportunities this represents for the operation of smart grids and energy efficiency."

An overview of the main results, conclusions and recommendations was given at the final conference. The presentations are available on http://g4v.eu/downloads/finalconference.html. The official reports from the project are still under preparation, but will also be available on the web site when finalised.

The "G4V road map" found in session 4 of the conference is especially recommended for interested readers. The road map gives several high level recommendations to how the industry should develop with respect to enabling a mass adoption of EVs, but the road map also leaves lots of room for further discussion on details.

Many of the technical solutions of the EDISON project fit well into the scenario called "Advanced world" in the G4V project, hence one could claim that G4V is bridging the gap between the current market situation and the future oriented EDISON project scenario.
